How can I use Snapchat on the PC?

Snapchat can also be used on the PC with the “Snap Camera” or BlueStacks program. We show how it works.

Install the Snapchat app in Windows 11

Windows 11 supports the installation of Android apps. There you can install Snapchat in Windows with our instructions.

Use Snacphat on Windows 10 PC with “Snap Camera”

If you have a webcam, you can use the official “Snap Camera” program to use the coveted Snapchat lenses and effects on your PC. After installation, you can use different Snapchat Lenses and either record the whole thing or stream it on game platforms such as Twitch or on YouTube.

The masks and faces put on can also be used with apps such as Skype. Streaming and recording programs such as OBS Studio are also compatible. The whole thing looks something like this:

Minimum system requirements:
Windows 10 64-Bit / macOS 10.11
Intel Core i3 2.5Ghz / AMD Phenom II 2.6Ghz mit 4 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 4000 / Nvidia GeForce 710 / AMD Radeon HD 6450
Screen resolution: 1280 x 768 pixels

This is how it works:

  1. Load yourselves Snap Camera down.
  2. Then click on the EXE file to install Snap Camera (for macOS it is the PKG file).
  3. During the installation, Twitch users must then install the “Snap Camera Twitch extension”.
  4. Activate your webcam if necessary and open “Snap Camera”.

If you want to use the video output of Snap Camera in programs like Skype, you have to select the entry “Snap Camera” in the respective program instead of your webcam. You can find more help on the Snap Camera support website.

Use the Snapchat app on your PC with BlueStacks

If you want to use the “normal Snapchat” on the PC, there is no program of its own for it. However, there is still a trick to this. You simply install an Android-like environment in which the Snapchat app can be opened. This is possible, for example, with the Android emulator “BlueStacks App Player”:

Sometimes there are also Windows 10 apps with which you can use Snapchat on the PC. However, since Snapchat takes action against such third-party apps, your Snapchat account can be blocked. We therefore do not recommend such instructions.

Install Snapchat

  1. Install the software “BlueStack App Player”.
  2. Start the emulator and open the “Play Store”.
  3. Log in with your Google account, if asked, so that your Android contacts are synchronized.
  4. Install Snapchat in the emulator via the “Play Store” and start the app.
  5. Log in with your account.
    Snapchat-Login in BlueStack Apps Player.
    Snapchat-Login in BlueStack Apps Player.

Now you can use Snapchat in this way on your PC and chat with your contacts and friends. However, Snapchat does not recognize the PC webcam. But you can import pictures from the PC into messages. You can see how to do this in the following.

If you should have problems with BlueStack Apps Player, you can alternatively use the Android emulator Andy and install Snapchat in it.

Use Snapchat on PC

  1. Opens a chat with a contact.
  2. Type a message.
  3. Now you can choose a media file.
  4. Since there are no photos stored on this virtual Android device and the PC webcam cannot be used, click on “Pick up from Windows.
  5. Now select the pictures that are saved on the PC to upload them to Snapchat.

Console emulators for Android are based on the same principle. You can use them to play Nintendo classics on your smartphone.
