The release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition wasn’t exactly going off smoothly. Quite the opposite. On the one hand, the title was not playable on the PC for a few days, and users on other platforms also complained about the poor quality of the remaster.
The three classic versions of the GTA Trilogy return
The whole thing was particularly annoying as Rockstar took the original games out of stores, presumably to make the Definitive Edition a little tastier for users. For lovers of the original titles, however, there is now good news: Rockstar Games will be bringing back the classic versions of the games, like the company in a new blog post writes:
“First off, we sincerely apologize to anyone who has had problems playing these games. The Grand Theft Auto franchise – and the games that make up this iconic trilogy – are as special to us as they are to the fans of the all over the world. The updated versions of these classic games have not been released in a state that meets our own standards, nor what the community expects. “
Rockstar would like to keep working on the remaster trilogy and is promising a title update soon that will address some of the game’s issues. Furthermore, the original versions of the three games will be bundled back in the Rockstar Store. Players who have already purchased the new GTA Trilogy or who do so by June 30, 2022 will receive the original games for free.
The company continues to ask its community not to attack the developers via social media anymore.
It is not yet known whether the three games will also be available again on Steam. As soon as the three games return, Rockstar will release another update.
