New World: Player numbers are falling – Amazon has to react now

The number of players in New World is still falling, which could soon cause the first servers to die out. Amazon reacts with server consolidations.

Update from November 18, 2021:

New World: After the high comes a low

Amazon Games probably imagined the situation with New World differently, especially since the game could hardly save itself from players at first. Now, however, the opposite is the case. According to the Steam Charts page, just a few weeks ago the game attracted an average of 400,000 simultaneous players, the multiplayer RPG has now reached around 100,000.

Smaller servers in particular suffer from this, because without enough players the whole economic system breaks together. That has to go through a lot anyway – so much that Amazon recently temporarily shut down its servers after several cases of duping were discovered. Players have duplicated high value items like house accessories for the endgame and even gold. Counterproductive for an already weak system.

Of course, that didn’t go unnoticed and despite the lack of players, Amazon had to get one Start a wave of bans, which in the end affected over 1,200 accounts.

“We have permanently banned over 1,200 players for these exploits, removed their items from the economy and deleted their entries in the trading posts. On November 2nd, we took firm action against apparent culprits and permanently banned the accounts of the worst culprits, removing over 80% of the fraudulent coins and items from the economy, ”Community Manager Luxendra said on the official blog.

How things will go on with New World remains to be seen. First of all, a few servers are to be merged.

Original article from November 14, 2021:

At first, New World couldn’t save itself from players, but only shortly after the game was released, Amazon Games now has to contend with a lack of players. The first servers will soon be merged.

New World: The number of players is falling rapidly

After several delays, Amazon’s first attempt in the MMO genre appeared on September 28, 2021. At first it was a resounding success, so New World quickly shot up in the charts. The game’s popularity has now apparently declined again – that could be due to bugs like the Goldverdopplung that almost paralyzed the economy in the game.

With the 1.05 update, Amazon managed to fix some of the problems, but apparently it is on some servers to record a sharp decline in population. Now the group is reacting with the merger. The “New World” developer Kay announced in the official forum:

“Hello everyone, the merging of the worlds is imminent, but will require further testing before we are confident enough to use the technology on the live worlds. As you can imagine, considering the first rocky weeks here, we are overly cautious.

Keep an eye out for an early update from our community managers on this topic in the official news section. “

New tokens for a server change are possible

Most of the fans in the forum respond positively to this message, but some players have theirs Token for a server transfer now practically wasted. This also includes forum user Kyriona.

“Is there any hope of a second transfer token for those of us who used the first to join friends and are now stuck on dead servers? I know it’s early, it’s only noon, but according to the New World database, there are only 167 people online on my server. More people are switching servers every day.

As annoying as the bugs and exploits are, I could handle them … but it’s hard to play a game like this when there aren’t many others to play with. “

It seems like these players are lucky, because developer Kay replied, that there is definitely hope.
