The Korean Game Society announced that the current 10th president, Wii Jung-hyun, has been elected as the 11th president. At the Fall Conference and Regular General Meeting of the Korean Game Society held on November 27 (Sat), Chairman Wie Jeong-hyun was unanimously elected as the 11th president of the society. The term of office is 2 years from January 2022 to December 2023. With this, President Wii Jung-hyun was appointed as the president of the society for three consecutive terms from the ninth to the eleventh generation.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its establishment, the Korea Game Society held an autumn academic presentation at Jeju Hanwha Resort on November 26-27, 2021 (Fri-Sat) with the theme of ‘K-Games, the beginning of a new 20 years’.
At this conference, about 70 papers were presented and ‘AR/VR’, ‘UI/UX’, ‘Game Planning and Storytelling’, ‘Game Industry Marketing Application’, ‘Game Users and Culture’, ‘Game Production Cases’ , ‘Graphic Design’, and ‘Metaverse’ consisted of 8 sessions.
In addition, WeMade CEO Jang Hyun-guk gave a keynote lecture on the topic of ‘The History and Future of Korean Games and the Path We Should Take’, and Professor Kiyoshi Shin of Digital Hollywood Graduate University called ‘Lessons Learned from Developing a VR Sword Fighting Game’. As the theme, Professor Sang Nam of George Mason University gave an invitational lecture on the subject of ‘Preparing Students for Real Life: 21st Century Skills Curriculum and Student Empowering Projects’, and YouTuber Gusmile gave an invitational lecture on the theme of ‘Dad Teaching RPG to Daughter’. did.
Chairman Wie Jung-hyun said, “The society has made great efforts to respond to current issues in the game industry, such as preventing the introduction of disease codes, solving the problem of Chinese version, and improving the problem of probability-type items. For the next two years, we will make efforts from various angles to improve social awareness of games, and to research future games such as NFT and Metaverse.” He added, “We will make an active effort for the society to express its opinions on the establishment of the next government’s game industry policy, and for this purpose, we will enhance the research capacity and expertise of the society.”
