The iPhone 13 models have not been on the market for long, but there have been rumors about the successor for a long time. There, Apple is supposed to change a special design feature that is always in view. It’s about the notch in the display that should become a hole. A picture now shows what that could look like. Even as an Android user, I don’t like it.
iPhone 14 with a hole instead of a notch
For many years, Apple has been using a notch in the display to accommodate the many sensors for Face ID and the front camera. With the iPhone 13 (Pro) the notch has been reduced a bit – but it is still very present. Somehow the notch just belongs to the iPhone. But what would the Apple mobile phone look like if a hole were integrated into the display instead of a notch, as is known from almost every Android smartphone? Somebody visualized exactly that on Twitter:
Apple could do the Put iPhone 14 on a “pill” design and retire the notch. According to earlier information, some of the sensors should be able to be installed under the display, but that does not work with every sensor or camera. Accordingly, Apple would have to create a hole in the display, which in turn would look like a 0815 Android smartphone.
In my view Apple would lose such an important design feature on the iPhone. If you look at the display you would no longer immediately recognize that it is an iPhone. It could also be any Android smartphone that has been using punch-hole cameras for years. You would only recognize the iPhone by the iOS operating system and that has developed more and more in the direction of Android in recent years – see widgets.

Will all iPhone 14 models get the punch-hole display?
It is questionable whether Apple would use the punch-hole camera on the iPhone 14 in all new smartphones. It is also conceivable that the new design will only be used in the Pro models. After all, the notch has only just been made smaller, so a completely new design for all iPhone 14 models is rather unlikely. Many more rumors are sure to emerge in the coming weeks and months. The camera, for example, should also get a decent upgrade.
